Explore Athens-Limestone With New Themed Adventure Guides

Many people come to Athens-Limestone to experience the history and heritage of the communities. Lots of travelers and local enjoy the driving tours that highlight the historic homes like the Beaty Historic District, Athens-Limestone African-American Heritage Trail, Athens-Limestone Civil War Driving Trail, and the Columns and Culture: Antebellum Driving Tour. Athens-Limestone Tourism recently added to their collection of adventure guides with several options highlighting a variety of themes in the community.
One newly developed guide will appeal to Alabama Shakes and Brittany Howard fans. The guide highlights the locations where Brittany Howard filmed her video, Stay High, throughout Athens plus some eateries that have been connected to the Alabama Shakes.
Another newly developed guide highlights places where you can pull up a chair, cut a rug, or tap your toe. The Athens-Limestone Live Music adventure guide highlights locations all over Limestone County, as well as a few just over the border in Tennessee.
Marbut Bend Accessible Trail is a collaboration between the Tennessee Valley Authority and the Limestone County Commission in the northwest portion of Limestone County near Salem-Lester. A newly developed adventure guide features an aerial map of the trail and its amenities, including the first-come, first-serve campgrounds.
The avid anglers will enjoy the new Athens-Limestone Alabama Fishing and Outdoor adventure guide that features a list of boat ramps, information about Lucy’s Branch Marina, and articles that speak to the type of fish they’re likely to encounter in our waters.
One adventure guide is a cross between art, quilting, and farming – the Athens-Limestone Barn Quilt Driving Tour. The circuitous route takes adventurers through Limestone County to stops that highlight local farms’ barns that have been bedecked with barn quilt patterns.
Anyone interested in exploring with any of these adventure guides can pick up a copy at the *Athens-Limestone Visitors Center at 100 North Beaty Street in Athens, Monday through Friday from 8 A.M.-5 P.M.
