Spring is Springing
It’s March and the fun begins! You can find several things to do each weekend during March. One of the favorite is the annual Athens Home and Garden Show, hosted by the Greater Limestone County Chamber of Commerce. The show will be Saturday March 16th from 9AM – 4PM and Sunday, March 17th from 12PM – 4PM at the Limestone County Event Center located at 100 West Pryor Street, Athens.
There is no admission fee. The show will be filled with many demonstrations, an area for kid’s activities and door prizes also. Over 50 booths will have all types of home and garden items for review and sale, as well as great ideas for your home and garden projects. It’s a great time to purchase those spring plants too. Another special event this month is the Easter Egg Hunt March 16th on the Courthouse Square. The event is sponsored by Spirit of Athens with First Baptist Church partnering this year. The Egg Hunt will begin at 10AM and is limited to ages 11 and under. You can also have your child’s photo made for $5. There will be a jelly bean guessing contest and a color contest conducted by First Baptist Church.

Mar 16 – Mooresville Rocket Run 10-Miler at 8:00 AM

Mar 16th Easter Egg Hunt on the Courthouse Lawn from 10AM-12PM sponsored by Spirit of Athens has partnered with First Baptist Church for a huge egg hunt for ages under 11. Photos will be made outside for $5. A jelly bean guessing contest and a color contest will be held by First Baptist Church.
Mar 16 & 17 Home and Garden Show – It’s time to start planning that garden and this is the perfect place to get your plants and lots of ideas. The event is hosted by the Greater Limestone County Chamber.
Mar 23 Easter Egg Hunt at 10:00 AM. Join the fun at Chick-fil-A on Hwy 72 hosted by Athens-Limestone Hospital in partnership with Chick-fil-A.

Mar 30 – March is Women’s History Month at the Alabama Veterans Museum. The theme selected for this year’s programs is: “Women Inspiring Innovation Through Imagination: Celebrating Women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.” Honoree is Miss Mattye Murray with Mary Scott Hunter Representative to the Alabama Board of Education as the guest speaker.
