This year, 2019, has been the fastest year of my life. It has moved with the speed of light. When I was younger, I heard older people say that time seemed to speed up, I didn’t fully understand what that meant until I got older as well. I can’t believe that there are only 2 more months left in 2019. That’s only 2 more months to make good on all those “New Year’s Resolutions.” How may of you are able to say you completed a resolution you made for yourself back in January? If I was going to guess, the percentage of those of us who have completed their resolutions would be very low.
I have struggled through the year to keep my commitment to better health. Have I been perfect? No, not by any stretch of the imagination. Have I stuck with the plan, even when I took a slight detour? Yes, I didn’t let myself be side-tracked by eating something I shouldn’t eat.
When I made the decision to be healthier this year, I also made the decision not to be so hard on myself. I am by far my worst critic. On any other diet, if I decided to have a cookie, I would beat myself up and decide that I wasn’t worth the hard work, what’s the point, just keep eating the cookies. But this time was different, I allowed myself to enjoy the cookie but continue to eat good, healthy food for the rest of the week.
I’m excited for the last two months of the year. I’m excited to see how far I’ve come from January to December. I’m excited to see how far you all have come. Remember, health is not a number on a scale. It is your overall well-being. You may not fit into the size 6 dress, and that’s okay! Keep pressing on towards your goal! You can do this and I’m so proud of all of you!
But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded. 2 Chronicles 15:7
