It seems like just a minute ago it was summer. The weather was hot, the sun was shining, the day was long and we got lots of work done. Today it is cold, the days are short and it is cold. Did I say it was cold?
I actually like the cold, and when it comes down to it I really like all of the seasons. When it gets cold, it reminds me that soon we will be celebrating Thanksgiving, Christmas, and family birthdays.
However, I just don’t like the short days, because it feels like I need to go to bed at 6:00pm now. It is not only dark already by then – it is really dark – like 9:00pm dark. Then I wake up feeling like I did not get everything done.
Usually by Thanksgiving I have my Christmas cards ready to mail. This year I have not even bought them. I think I had some left over from last year but I could not even begin to tell you where they might be.
Usually by Thanksgiving I have all my shopping done. This year I have not even started. How did it get to be Thanksgiving so fast? It was summer a minute ago.
The bright side is, now that the days are short and the temperatures have dropped, there are new ways in our building to bundle up, warm up, and get your holiday shopping finished in cheerful comfort. The former campus bookstore has been remodeled and transformed into a boutique called Epiphany. If you are looking for items that are unique, either for yourself or women on your shopping list, make it a point to come and see what Epiphany has to offer.
Our own ASU Undergrounds Café has undergone remodeling and has a trendy new look and name, the Square Clock Coffee House. The same warm service awaits you, with hot coffee drinks, tea, sweet treats, and a place to rest after you have finished shopping. You might even work on your Christmas cards!
