Friday Night Movies
You may sometimes wonder why a scene from a movie stays with you long after the credits roll, yet in other cases, you can’t recall if you’ve ever seen the movie. Thinking about that memorable moment, what made that impression? Was it particularly well-acted? The dramatic lighting? The emotion of the music? The tension that built up? The ability to relate to the scene? A powerful choice of words? Join us for movie night as we discuss what impacts us in the movies. Defining Genre – Good Will Hunting; Special Effects of the 20th Century – The Dark Knight; Scoring the Story – Out of Africa. $5/person per movie
Painting for Beginners
This class will guide the student step-through-step to complete three paintings using acrylic paints. Students will learn about strokes, mixing paints, balance, and more. The fourth painting will be a free-style painting of the student’s choice. All supplies are provided. $89/person – 4 sessions
Pottery: An Introduction to Wheel Throwing
Students will learn the basics of creating pottery on the potter’s wheel. You will learn how to center the clay on the wheel and make cylinders and bowls. No prior experience necessary, but come ready to make a mess! Register early as class size is limited. All supplies are provided. $89/person – 5 Sessions
Cookie Decorating for Beginners
Just in time for Halloween, this is a true beginner’s class on cookie decorating! Our instructor does a fabulous job in teaching students how to become “cookie artists” with sugar cookies, royal icing, and amazingly simple decorating techniques. Bring a friend and spend a couple of hours with us learning, laughing, talking about recipes, and decorating the perfectly beautiful cookie. This is a very hands-on, detail-oriented class; so come join us for an incredible cookie transformation! All supplies provided. $49/person – 1 Session
Advanced Blacksmith – Simple Candlestick
This class will use advanced skills to build a Simple Candlestick that is perfect for a gift or for your own home. Students will learn basic tong forging, and forging precise parts to fit and work together. Students need to bring leather gloves to class. All supplies are provided. Prerequisite: A Basic or Beginning Blacksmith class. $109 – 1 Session
Lunch and Learn: The Great Debate – Advocates and Opponents of the American Constitution
This course will not only point out the significance of the historical debate that took place while writing the constitution, it will highlight, in retrospect, the key strengths and weaknesses of each side of the debate. Bring your lunch and join us for this interesting discussion of the Separations of Powers and the Bill of Rights. FREE – 4 Sessions
