The City of Athens Relay for Life Team received a donation of $2,500 today (May 25, 2018) from Modern Woodmen of America as a matching grant for the team’s Relay for LIfe Bass Fishing Tournament fundraiser. Modern Woodmen financial representative Andrew Kirk made the check presentation to Athens Relay team members, from left, Stephanie Marlowe, Holly Hollman, and Mayor Ronnie Marks.

The city team raised over $25,000 this campaign year for the American Cancer Society. The team also held a blood drive, collected cola tabs for the Ronald McDonald House that supports St. Jude’s, and supported Superhero Day for Childhood Cancer Awareness.

“The team has many reasons to remain committed to the fight against cancer because of all the people we know who are impacted by it,” said Hollman. “The support we receive from the community and organizations like Modern Woodmen also encourage us to remain committed.”
