Basketball Teams Struggle Through Season

By: Tim Lambert

Local athletes and coaches are trying their best to navigate through their basketball seasons as coronavirus-related issues continue to hamper their efforts. With numbers continuing to rise, the AHSAA has also issued a memo restricting attendance to less than 20% of facility capacity in accordance with the Alabama Department of Public Health recommendations. Athletic associations are also being asked to encourage and empower event officials to delay or suspend competition whenever spectators are not complying with social-distancing guidelines or proper wearing of face coverings or masks. The memo can be seen at www.ahsaa.com. As we said, despite the obstacles, games are still being played.
